Thursday Toddler Group

Normally 9.30am-11.30am on Thursdays in the St Andrew's Centre (behind the Church) in term time

While we are unable to meet at the moment because of COVID-19, when we are able to restart, we look forward to welcoming our families back. While Toddlers is shut, there is a weekly newsletter which has ideas for crafts for Toddlers - if you would like to receive it, please contact Heather (details below).

St Andrew's Toddler Group has been running since 2002 and is still thriving thanks to the generous help of volunteers from the church.

Toddler GroupWe welcome babies and children under 5 years old with their parents, grandparents or carers and we meet in the St Andrew's Centre (you can come through the church and leave buggies in the Children's Corner) every Thursday during term time from 9.30am-11.30am. People come and go between these times. There is a £1.50 charge per family which includes fresh Fairtrade coffee, tea, squash and healthy snacks for the children.

St Andrew's Toddler Group is a great place for you to make friends and for your children to have fun, enjoy messy play, listen to stories and join in with song time.

Funtime Friday

Normally 9.00-10.30am on Fridays at St Andrew's School, Calton Avenue, in term time

While we are unable to meet at the moment because of COVID-19, when we are able to restart, we look forward to welcoming our families back.

The group is run in a way designed to be as friendly and homely as possible. Families are greeted by name, helped to settle in and refreshments then taken to them. Breakfast is laid out at a table and adults and children sit down to eat together (real coffee, fruit, pastries...).

Toys are easily accessible in see-through boxes and children can get out whatever they wish to play with. Some of our volunteers spend the whole time interacting with the children to give the adults time to talk – both to each other and with us.

From the start we have felt that building positive and friendly relationships was at the core of the group. We open when school starts and end at 10.30 – ready for nap time! There is a voluntary donation at £1 per family.

We all tidy up 10 minutes before the end and sit in a circle for a short service – a greeting song (which uses our names and tells everyone ‘they are welcome in the name of the Lord’), a Bible story told using props rather than books, an interactive prayer and a sung blessing.
