Prayer is the lifeblood of any church...
House of Prayer: 'When the Church becomes a House of Prayer, the people will come'. During a series of evenings led by Alan, we were challenged and inspired to give prayer a more central place in our lives.
If you'd like to pray but aren't quite sure what to say, here are some prayers
that may help.
March 2020: Although St Andrew's has had to close and our services and activities have been suspended, we remain Here with you and Here for you.
In St Andrew's, we have a prayer space where people can post their prayers on the prayer tree and light a candle. Every member of St Andrew’s is encouraged to pray through a very short daily office (prayers to begin and end the day). Copies of these prayers can be found in the prayer space, which is to the left as you come into the church.
Prayer before the Sunday service
Everyone is also invited to pray before the Sunday service in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel from 10.00am.
Prayer after the Sunday Service
After the 10.30am service, members of our Prayer Ministry Team will be available to pray with you in the Chapel and the North Transept.
There is a monthly prayer meeting called Breathe, to which everyone is welcome. We meet on the first Saturday of each month. Breakfast is served from 8.00am in the St Andrew's Centre (behind the church) and we then gather for prayer at 8.30am in the Chapel inside the Church. Dates for 2020 are: 4 Jan, 1 Feb, 7 March, 4 April, 2 May, 6 June, 4 July, 5 Sept, 3 Oct, 7 Nov, 5 Dec
Laying on of hands
Laying on of hands for healing is offered at the midweek service on the first Wednesday of each month and during the 10.30am Sunday service, usually on the third Sunday of the month.
Meditation & Mindfulness
There is also a Meditation & Mindfulness Group that you are welcome to come to. We meet twice a month at St Andrew's, usually on the first and third Wednesdays evenings at 8.00pm. Each session lasts for about 45 minutes. These times explore the beauty of silence and the rich traditions of Christian meditation. We start with some gentle exercises to help still the mind and then guided meditation followed by a time of silence. Beginners are welcome. Dates for 2019: 16 Jan; 6, 20 Feb; 13, 20 March; 3, 17 April; 1, 15 May; 5, 19 June; 3, 17 July; 4, 18 Sept; 2, 16 Oct; 6, 20 Nov; 4, 18 Dec
There is a confidential prayer group in the parish. Please contact us if there is something or someone you would like us to pray for.
